Real detail, not just more pixels
Real-ESRGAN regenerates texture and edges instead of interpolating between the pixels you already have.
4× upscaling
A super-resolution model trained on real photos and textures — text, hair and fine patterns come back sharper.
Private by design
The model is downloaded to your browser and runs there. Your photos are never uploaded to a server.
Handles large images
Big photos are processed in overlapping tiles, so memory stays bounded no matter the input size.
Free and unlimited
No account, no credits, no watermark and no daily cap. Upscale as many images as you like.
Why use ImageUpscaler
No upload
Your image stays on your device from start to finish — nothing is stored or queued on a server.
Works everywhere
Uses WebGPU when the browser supports it and falls back to WebAssembly when it does not.
Built for big photos
Tiled processing keeps even multi-megapixel inputs within memory instead of failing on the first large image.
How it works

FAQ
Is ImageUpscaler really free?
Yes. There is no account, no credit system and no watermark. Because the AI runs on your own device, there is no server cost per image — so we do not need to charge or cap usage.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The image is decoded in your browser, processed by the model on your own CPU or GPU and exported locally. Your file never leaves your device.
What does “first run downloads the model” mean?
The AI model is about 32 MB. Your browser downloads it once and caches it, so the first image takes a little longer while later ones start instantly.
How much bigger will my image get?
Four times on each side, so sixteen times the pixels — a 1024 × 768 photo becomes 4096 × 3072. Only the 4× model is supported for now.
Why are very large images downscaled first?
A 4× output is sixteen times the pixels, and a full 4K photo would need around a gigabyte of memory for the result alone. To stay within what a browser can hold, inputs above a few megapixels are reduced before upscaling.
Does it work on phones?
Yes — on mobile browsers the model runs on WebAssembly, which is slower than WebGPU on a desktop but still works. Keep the tab open while the model loads, and prefer smaller images on mobile.
Can I use the result commercially?
The upscaled image is yours to use. You are responsible for having the rights to the original photo.
